Knit cabled wrist warmers - free pattern

Design: Berlin 2.0 wrist warmers

BERLIN 2.0 Wrist warmers - noriknits While accompanying my best friend to choose her wedding outfit, I knitted these wrist warmers. Because we were in Berlin and it's her second wedding, I named these cozy wrist warmers BERLIN 2.0.

Anyway, you can never have too many wrist warmers – whether you're getting married or not – and these are really lovely, don't you think?

CONSTRUCTION

The pattern band on the back of BERLIN 2.0 has a pattern band pointing into one direction and looks best when knitted starting from the center in two directions up to the cuff edges, expanding symmetrically to both ends.

I used a provisional cast on that is very simple to knit and nearly invisible later - provisional cast on by looping stitches onto the needle.

You'll find detailed explanations with photos in the 'learn to knit ' section, where this cast-on is explained. Further down in the text, you'll find the corresponding tutorial as a PDF.

The wrist warmers are worked on circular needles using the Magic Loop technique.

As the provisional cast on is done onto the cord of an auxiliary needle it is quite convenient later as you do not have to pick up the stitches being on hold - just assemble needle tips to the auxiliary cord and knit the second half.

You may follow the text or knit according to the charts - as you like! The content is the same.

DIRECTIONS

Prepare your two circular knitting needles so that you assemble the needle tips and cables as follows: One cable with 3 mm / US 2.5 tips (as a cable needle) and one cable with 4 mm / US 6 tips (as a working needle).

Form a loop and place it on your auxiliary needle (3 mm). This loop does not count towards the total stitch count!

Cast on 43 stitches using the provisional cast-on method. (You will need 42 stitches later - the 43rd stitch is cast on for technical reasons only - it will disappear in the first row).

Turn your work carefully and start to knit:
