Dein Schal, dein Style

Your scarf, your style

Do you remember how glad you were on that last long-haul flight that you had that big, cozy stole with you?

A large scarf is like a plaid.
A PERFECT GETAWAY scarf

The one you could wrap yourself in when the lights went out and quiet time began? The one that gave you a little bit of security in the night air and that could shield you from the cool, drafty air on board?

It's a similar feeling when you wrap yourself in a large scarf instead of always putting on a jacket. Just as warm as you need – you can shield yourself from drafts, and if it gets warmer, you can loosen the scarf or take it off completely. At the same time, you don't feel restricted, you can wear your favorite blouse underneath, and maybe some wrist warmers if it's already chilly – and the look is complete! A large scarf is a real statement accessory!

Why is this a good idea?

  • It's just so easy - a scarf is lighter than a jacket, it can be worn more loosely (= less tightly) than a jacket - and you don't sink into thicker layers of fabric or even down.

  • Fashion Forward: a large scarf is also a statement accessory. You can quickly give your look a new direction with a scarf by playing with colors and materials. Chunky knit scarves and tweed-like yarns instantly give your look a rustic, more tomboyish touch (imagine a walk in the Scottish Highlands, ideally with your dog!). With cozy, perhaps long-haired qualities (cashmere! super-soft merino! mohair!) in delicate or vibrant colors, your look becomes much more feminine and refined – imagine yourself sitting outside a café on Boulevard St. Germain with a latte, watching the passersby and letting your thoughts wander. With a simple adjustment (or with every new scarf), you can quickly change your look. You decide – do you prefer a robust, refined, and elegant look today, or one with a touch of coolness?

  • Multifunctional and versatile: You can wear the scarf indoors or outdoors, while driving, walking, or when the weather is unpredictable. You can pull it over your head like a hood, drape it around your shoulders, or wear it classically around your neck.

This is how you wear your scarf

Now you might be wondering how to style this scarf, how to wear it? Here are a few cool styling ideas for you:

1. Modern & casual : Simply wrap the scarf once or twice around your neck (depending on the length) and let the ends hang loosely - a simple yet cool style.

2. The classic : Fold the scarf in half, place the loop around your neck, and simply pull both ends through the loop. While this isn't necessarily my personal favorite, it works great with shorter scarves and is quick to do. Men often wear their blazer scarves this way (then you'll have a picture in mind! ;))

3. The stole : Drape the scarf around your shoulders, using its full width. Depending on the length, you can let the ends hang freely, or tie a loose knot in front of your chest if you need to tuck in more length.

4. The Loop : If the endless tying, draping, and fiddling with the ends is too much for you, opt for a loop scarf (cow) knitted in the round. It couldn't be simpler—just slip it over your head, and you're done. A lovely, smaller loop is BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE —a quick and easy smaller project.

5. Long-haul flights : And then, of course, the cozy classic: the scarf/blanket/the feeling of home – while traveling. Here, the look isn't so important; the flight attendant will probably only be passing by occasionally. Loosely wrap your large scarf around your shoulders or cover yourself with it when you put your feet up during the flight – then close your eyes and dream of all the wonderful things and new opportunities that await you after landing!
